New York Governor Andrew Cuomo warned that the coronavirus outbreak could impact the region for up to 9 months as he opened the first drive-thru testing center in New Rochelle.
The testing station will serve around 200 people per day, by appointment.
All schools in New Rochelle have also closed, a day after the containment area restrictions began.
Seven more public schools in New York City are closed on Friday after students tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19.
Two schools that share a location on Staten Island, a public high school and several occupational centers are closed.
Also, all elementary Catholic academies and parish schools throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes Brooklyn and Queens, will close next week.
The closings come a day after Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a state of emergency in New York City.
